I have in the last year, changed my direction, though Shadowcat is still a concept I believe to be of value to establish.

Since early January 2010, I have been volunteering at the Arizona Animal Welfare League (aawl.org) in the 'Cattery' helping socialize the incoming cats to make them more adoptable.

As gladdening as it is to learn of an adoption, there is also a little sadness if one gets attached to an animal - especially if they have taken them on as a 'project'.

I left in 2012, when I took on more 'hands on' tasks feeding colonies and helping with TNR work.

The shelter does not take animals from private individuals, but rather from other animal control facilities. It is sad sometimes too to see full grown, well kept animals coming in as you know thay have been abandoned by a loving family. Likely by someone abandoning a house for a cheaper apartment that doesn't allow pets or has a high pet deposit.
